Our city’s enthusiasm for sports goes beyond college team spirit, too – we’re home to the NWA Roller Derby, a World Championship Cyclocross course, and a disc golfer’s paradise. Razorback fans of and visitors to the University of Arkansas have the opportunity to attend sporting events year-round, as the school currently fields 19 total varsity teams — eight men’s and 11 women’s — in 11 sports. The men’s varsity sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field, and of course, football; the women’s varsity sports include basketball, cross country, golf, gymnastics, soccer, indoor and outdoor track and field, swimming and diving, tennis, softball and volleyball.
Staying for a while? Fayetteville Parks and Recreation offers Adult Sport options in kickball, volleyball, soccer, and slow pitch softball. Youth leagues are available for fast pitch softball and soccer!

Ragnar Events, an industry leader in team-based relay running, has announced their endurance running event, Ragnar Trail Arkansas, will be back and will be happening at Fayetteville’s Centennial Park at Millsap Mountain on April 17-18, 2026!
This Thanksgiving Day, before you gather to feast, gather to move your feet! The fifth annual Turkey Trot-n-Trek is returning to Fayetteville on a quest to be your new favorite family tradition.
The festive and fun holiday race is returning to Fayetteville for a fifth year! The aptly-named White Elephant 5K race will take place in downtown Fayetteville on Saturday, December 13th. Holiday themed attire is welcomed, the tackier and uglier the better!

The 37th Annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival will take place October 3rd & 4th, 2025. The festival was created to bring together three Northwest Arkansas cross-country races under a single event and is now one of the premier running events in America.
