Or, connect with the people at Pedego, who can help you rent the right e-bike for an all-day excursion. I'm new to e-biking and e-scootering! What else do I need to know? Here are some rules and safety precautions it's important to review before you hop on your e-bike or e-scooter.  Scooter riders should be at least 16 years old, and proper safety gear like helmets is recommended. Scooters can be ridden anywhere bicycles are allowed, which includes streets and paved trails. Yield to pedestrians, and don't travel on sidewalks downtown to keep other people safe. Obey the same traffic laws that cars do. Scooters should travel on the same side of the road as traffic. They shouldn't travel against the flow of traffic.  Stay aware. Don't use your cell phone or headphones while riding e-bikes or e-scooters. Use at least one hand on the handlebars at all times to keep you and the people around you safe. If you're riding on the University of Arkansas campus, there are some slow zones to protect pedestrians. You can see a map of these slow zones here. Park responsibly, placing scooters upright. Make sure they don't block important transit stops, ADA accessible locations, driveways, loading zones, or sidewalks, so that it's easy for other people in our community to get around.  These common-sense rules are highlights from the e-bike and e-scooter companies themselves. If you're interested in the official rules about riding your e-bike or e-scooter, check the University of Arkansas website to learn about expectations for riding your scooter on campus. See the City of Fayetteville website to know about how you should take care on e-transport in Fayetteville as a whole.    By Julia Paganelli Marín

Fayetteville Tandem Rally Sept. 27 - 29

With over 100 miles of sprawling trails inside our city limits and access to hundreds more miles of scenic roads - both paved and unpaved! - just outside, there might not be a better way to see Fayetteville and the surrounding Ozark Mountains than by bicycle! This fall, cyclists are invited to experience the Ozarks in pairs at the second annual Fayetteville Tandem Rally, a 3-day gathering of tandem bicycle enthusiasts taking place Friday, September 27 through Sunday, September 29. Designed for two (or more!) riders, tandem bicycles have created a passionate following of folks that enjoy gathering in popular cycling destinations around the country to ride and relax. The Fayetteville Tandem Rally will feature plenty of both! Daily road and (optional) gravel group rides are followed by evenings spent with newfound friends at one of Fayetteville’s many bicycle-friendly restaurants, coffee shops, and craft breweries. The low traffic density, high road quality, and mild topography of the Illinois River Valley that bring cyclists to Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas will be highlighted on the weekend's rides. While the riding and the rally officially start on Friday, event hosts Hank and Roxanne invite attendees to join them Thursday evening for early packet pickup and a few local brews at Crisis Brewing – a favorite stop on the Fayetteville Ale Trail! Event registration is live and includes a wine tasting on Friday, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and a full weekend of supported rides, rest stops, curated routes, and more! The event’s host hotels allow tandem bicycles to be stored in the rooms and include complimentary breakfast each day. We can’t wait to welcome each of you – two by two! – for the 2nd annual Fayetteville Tandem Rally! %MCEPASTEBIN%
