Reduced Shakespeare Company: All the Great Books (Abridged)

Tue. Oct. 7 7:00 pm

Confused by Confucius? Thoroughly thrown by Thoreau? Wish Swift was swifter? Tennyson tinier? Then buckle up and hop aboard as the three cultural guerrillas of the Reduced Shakespeare Company zip through everything you didn’t get around to reading in school. America’s best loved comedy troupe takes you on a ninety-eight-minute roller-coaster ride through its compact compendium of the world’s great books. The literary canon explodes as the bad boys of abridgement unleash a brand-new comic outrage on an unsuspecting public.

CONTENT ADVISORY: In the spirit of Shakespeare’s comedies, Reduced Shakespeare Company shows contain comic depictions of violence, mild innuendo, bawdy language and the occasional rude word. All children (and parents) are different, so they've chosen to rate their shows PG-13: Pretty Good If You’re Thirteen.

Little Sprouts at BGO

Wed. Oct. 8 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Little Sprouts is a weekly botanically-themed program for children aged 2 to 5. Each week we read stories, sing songs, and do fun nature crafts & activities. Whether we are learning about how bees are more helpful than harmful, or exploring the garden with handmade binoculars, the children leave the Garden with a real appreciation for the world around them and a new desire to protect it.

Not only does our program serve the little ones in attendance, but also the adults who bring them. Each week we make an effort to encourage families to take the knowledge and skills they have gained from our programs and put them to use within their own homes. This is also a great way to get to know other families in the area!

Fall Into Acroyoga; Free Community Class and Jam

Wed. Oct. 8 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Supported by the City of Fayetteville's Parks and Recreation Community Arts Programming Grant, local circus artist Dana Krementz will be offering a free, foundational, and community based acroyoga series at Gulley Park this Fall.

Acroyoga is a joyful fusion of yoga, gymnastics, and circus acrobatics. While this can sound intimidating; acroyoga is a play-based, recreational practice where people of all ages and abilities can come together to support each other in taking on new challenges! Taking place by the new pavilion at Gulley Park every Wednesday evening September 24th-October 15th, this accessible class series will focus on teaching the foundations of acroyoga by exploring stationary postures, counter balances, and short routines (or “flows”). Following each class there will be a "jam"; an unstructured but supervised and supported play time, where anyone can practice what was learned that day or try something new!

During each class, Dana will lead groups through a series of physical warm ups, creative group games, and communication exercises before facilitating participants in exploring new ways to connect to themselves and others; to creatively express themselves through yoga, dance, and partner acrobatics; and to practice open, kind, and direct communication with others.

In this class series, acroyoga won’t just be about teaching people “cool circus tricks”, it will be about increasing community member's capacity to connect and create with others in a more supported, authentic, and community based way.

Instructor Bio:

Dana Krementz (they/them) is a 33 year old queer, nonbinary person who grew up in Fayetteville Arkansas. Dana has been dancing and playing their entire life, practicing yoga for 16 years, and became a certified acroyoga instructor with Vancity Acro in 2017. Dana has extensive experience in training, facilitating, and teaching play-based recreational circus arts and excels in facilitating safe, technically sound, and fun movement practices. They have taught people of all ages, abilities, and hold a wide variety of training and certifications related to equity, access, inclusivity, conflict de-escalation, emotional support, group facilitation, education, and trauma-informed communication.

—------

Over the last ten years, Dana has taught, trained, and performed acroyoga in five countries, multiple US states and Canadian provinces, and all across Arkansas.

Directed by Dexter J. Singleton
WORLD PREMIERE | Developed at the 2024 Arkansas New Play Festival

October 10–11 | 12 PM – 12 AM | Fayetteville, AR | 18+ All Day | Explicit Content After Dark

Overnight Primitive Camping Available

Step right up for an unforgettable weekend of art, music, and mystique in the heart of Northwest Arkansas! Hosted by NWA CAMP, the Freak Show Day Fest returns for its third act—Master of All Elements—bringing together the weird, the wild, and the wonderfully talented from among us.

This immersive two-day festival transforms the natural landscape at Metal Mountain into a living dreamscape filled with live music, interactive art, circus spectacles, and otherworldly attractions. With 12 hours of live performances each day and camping under the stars, this is more than a festival—it’s a gathering of creators, misfits, magic-makers, and of course- FREAKS. We welcome people from all walks of life, feature music from all genres, and seek to create a community, impact, and connection through this shared experience. At its heart, Freak Fest is a celebration of self-expression, collective creativity, and all things alternative or other and the beautiful chaos that happens when we bring these underground ideals to the mainstream. Come as you are—and leave transformed.
