Ozark Valley Triathlon

06/29/2024
Every Day until 06/29/2024

The Ozark Valley Triathlon (OVT), Fayetteville’s oldest triathlon event, returns with a bang for 2024! The two-day event, planned for the weekend of June 29-30, 2024, marks the third consecutive year for Fayetteville to host a full slate of USA Triathlon (USAT) National Championship events.

It’s only fitting that a gravel and mountain-biking haven like Fayetteville, Arkansas would be asked to host this national, championship-level gravel biking event yet again. As the most bike-friendly city in Northwest Arkansas, Fayetteville is a natural fit for mountain bikers and gravel fiends looking for new adventure as the sport continues to explode in popularity!

OVT Off-Road Triathlon, Off-Road Duathlon, Gravel Triathlon and Gravel Duathlon to be held on the same weekend as the oldest road triathlon in NW Arkansas. UPDATE - Gravel and Mtn Bike events both to be held on Saturday, June 29 at the same time.

Saturday, June 29 - OVT Gravel Triathlon, Gravel Duathlon, Mtn Bike Triathlon and Mtn Bike Duathlon events. Both off-road triathlons will have a 1,000 yard swim. Gravel bike course is 18 miles, mtn bike course is 12 miles and the triathlon run course is an epic 5 miles. Both the gravel and mtn bike duathlon run courses will consist of a 3 mile Run #1 and 5 mile Run #2 courses.

Sunday, June 30 - Ozark Valley Triathlon (road events) is hosting the 2024 Arkansas State Championships in the international and sprint distances as well as the Arkansas High School State Championship. There is a combined Club Championship competition as well. These are both road triathlon races and there will be a Aquabike, duathlon and team category (International distance only) in the Ozark Valley Triathlon.

OVT road events:

Sprint Triathlon - 400 yard swim, 13 mile bike, 2 mile run (2024 USA Triathlon Arkansas State Championship and High School State Championship)
International Triathlon (individual or teams) - 1,000 yard swim, 19 mile bike and a 4 mile run (2024 USA Triathlon Arkansas State Championship)
Aquabike - 1,000 yard swim, 19 mile bike
Sprint Duathlon - 2 mile run, 13 mile bike, 2 mile run

All events will be held at Lake Wedington Recreation Area.

Lake Wedington is located 13 miles west of Fayetteville and is one of the most natural settings for a triathlon in the region. Both spectators and participants can enjoy the natural beauty of the area and combined with unique finisher medals, post-race food, awards and prizes all make this race one not want to miss.

Beast of Burden 24 Hour Endurance Race

11/02/2024 12:00 pm - 11/03/2024 12:00 pm
This event does not repeat

Ozark Off-Road Cyclist and the Ozark Trail Runners unite to create the most epic 24 25 hour party you’ve ever experienced. Profits from this “race” will go to continued preservation and trail development on Mt. Kessler. Join us on November 2nd, Mt. Kessler – Fayetteville, Arkansas for a full day of partying in the dirt. Individuals or teams will take on the challenge to ride or run from 12pm on Saturday to 12pm on Sunday, thanks to daylight savings time, you get an extra hour for free!

The “Race” – 24 (+ 1 hour for free) hours of either mtb or trail running madness, or....BOTH! The team/solo individual with the most laps wins.

The Course - The course will be comprised of 2 separate loops, with participants rotating loops every 6 hours. Runners and riders will be on their own separate loops to minimize congestion. Each loop is roughly 4-6 miles long. One loop is easy, one loop will have you dreaming cozy warmth of the campfire.

The Teams* – Teams must have a team captain (primary contact). Teams are either fully bike or fully run, or dual sport and comprised of 2-4 participants on the Ultra team or 5-7 participants on the Endurance team (dual sport teams can have up to 8). You choose how much you want to work. Go for the win, or occasionally exert yourself and spend the rest of the time throwing back Fossil Cove’s tasty beverages. 1 person does 90% of the work or split it evenly. It’s up to you! Each team will receive one timing chip (triathlon style band) that can only be exchanged in the Campout Zone.

Note that run/ride teams will have 2 timing chips, one can only used for running and one only for riding. So, it is possible run/ride teams to have two participants on the course at one time, but only one of each discipline.

  • You can also choose to participate solo, but remember, no one asked you to do this.

The Party – Let’s be honest, the whole thing is the party, but since you asked. Dinner and breakfast provided. Trailside Coffee starting at when the bell tolls 12. Bumping tunes. Team Spirit competition. Fire pits burning through the night and more to come. Also, Rise Physical Therapy will keeping participants feeling fresh and limber, while Phat Tire will be keeping them bikes uh' rollin'.
