The festive and fun new holiday race that debuted in Fayetteville last winter is returning for a second year! The aptly-named White Elephant 5K race will take place in downtown Fayetteville on Saturday, December 10th.

The second annual edition of the race is hosted by Fayetteville's Parks and Recreation Department and has this year expanded to include a 1-mile race suitable for runners and walkers alike. The White Elephant 5K kicks off on Fayetteville's historic Downtown Square beginning at 8:00 am.

No matter their distance or speed, participants will be greeted by some iconic Fayetteville landmarks! The road race utilizes the city streets, taking participants past the Square, Old Main, The Ramble, and Dickson Street. If you know Fayetteville, you know that means racers are in for a hilly one! The festive 5K and 1-mile races will feature appearances by the Lights of the Ozarks, photos with Santa Claus, hot cocoa and holiday music, plus some classic “White Elephant” surprises. You can never be sure what you’re going to get!

Both the White Elephant 5K and 1-mile races are open to participants of all ages and levels, both runners and walkers. 5K registration is $30 for adults (16+) and $15 for those 15 and under, 1-mile registration is $20 for adults (16+) and $10 for 15 and under. Both races include an event shirt and a finisher medal. Are there more surprises in store?! Who knows! That’s the “White Elephant” of it all.

You can sign up for the race until December 9th. For more information, including course maps, please visit the City of Fayetteville's website.
