The Spicy Hog Double challenge will launch this fall, creating an additional incentive for racers to compete in two of Fayetteville’s oldest and most beloved running events! The challenge will span the weekend of October 1st and 2nd to include both the Chile Pepper 10K and the Razor Run 15K.
Those that successfully complete the back-to-back races - clocking 2 events and 25K in a single weekend in Fayetteville! - will be rewarded with an exclusive dual-sided Spicy Hog Double finisher medal sponsored by Experience Fayetteville. Considering the esteem of these events, your bragging rights will make a stellar secondary prize!
The Chile Pepper 10K, taking place on Saturday, October 1, is the open-to-the-public race that takes place as part of the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. The festival first debuted in Fayetteville in 1992 and has since grown into one of the premier running events in the United States. Today, the Chile Pepper hosts upwards of 6500 runners and 7000 spectators annually. Though the event primarily focuses on student competitions - additionally encompassing the Arkansas Invitational, the annual LadyBack and Razorback home meets, and Fayetteville High School’s Purple Dog Invitational. In keeping with the theme of the festival, the non-student race (also known as the Godpepper 10K) is run on the University of Arkansas Cross Country course.
The Razor Run 15K, on the following day, Sunday, October 2, is one of two races that make up the Razorback Run event. An extension of the extremely popular Hogeye Marathon, the Razorback Run is a fun, vibrant, all-ages event held in the heart of Fayetteville each fall! The race has deep roots, initially beginning in 1979 and then resurfacing in 2014. Over the years, the event has evolved to include a 5K run/walk alongside the original 15K race. Both 15K and 5K runners will depart from the Northwest Arkansas Mall to follow a winding race path along the Razorback Greenway and through Fayetteville’s trails and streets.
