Fayetteville, Arkansas locals know the network of gorgeous trails and stunning natural environment that has helped define the city for nearly 200 years both come as a result of support for land conservation in the region. The Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association determined there’s a perfect way to combine fun with getting the community connected with efforts to protect the beauty of the Ozarks that continuously helps rank Fayetteville near the top of multiple annual national quality of life lists—and that comes in the fabulous form of the yearly Kessler Trail Run.
First-time and return visitors to Kessler Mountain Regional Park are always amazed that hundreds of acres of such pristine forest are located in the midst of a bustling town, and the location couldn’t be more perfect to host this self-timed 10K and 20K trail run. The 7th annual event takes place on Saturday, November 23, 2019 and is followed by an after-party at the Ozark Mountain Smokehouse, located on the northern slope of Mount Kessler.
Runners receive a limited-edition 2019 Kessler Trail Run pint glass and a ticket to enjoy food and beverages prepared by area vendors. For those who wish to forego the run but are committed to supporting area land conservation efforts, the option to purchase a ticket for just the after-party is available.
