January 14, 2023

The Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Council will host their annual MLK Recommitment Celebration with a new format this year - and a special guest! Save the date for an intimate conversation with Dr. Cornel West and an evening of entertainment at the Fayetteville Public Library on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

The 27th annual MLK Recommitment Celebration is returning as an in-person event for the first time since 2020 and ditching the classic dinner banquet. The 2023 edition of the event will instead lean award ceremony, including a fireside chat with esteemed philosopher and activist Dr. Cornel West. This year, the theme of the event is Disruptive Love: The Foundation of the Beloved Community. In addition to an appearance by Dr. West, the NWA Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Council will recognize their 2023 Salute to Greateness Award recipients, acknowledge their scholarship recipients, and host a full lineup of dynamic local entertainment at the MLK Recommitment Celebration, with more details to come.

Each year, the council commemorates the life, legacy, and commitment to the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with this annual recommitment celebration that continues to grow! The Northwest Arkansas community is encouraged to attend the event to celebrate, recognize, and appreciate civil rights, justice and freedom alongside their neighbors, but everyone is welcome. Limited tickets to the 27th annual MLK Recommitment Celebration are now available to the public and can be purchased via Eventbrite.
