Trailside Village

Tucked right next to a quiet stretch of the Frisco Trail just a few steps from the bustle of Dickson Street, you’ll find a unique collection of spaces for makers and artists to do their work. Located in an old converted warehouse and Quonset hut alongside a narrow section of urban woodland, Trailside Village is a haven for creativity in a wonderfully walkable area of the city.

Multiple studios of varying shapes and sizes can be found in the complex, perfectly positioned in the heart of Fayetteville’s proposed Cultural Arts Corridor that is being designed to link the community’s major cultural institutions. The tenants are very engaged in the community, making their spaces available for public interaction on a regular basis.

Visitors are invited to Trailside Village’s Open Studios during each First Thursday, where they’ll find diverse, very authentic experiences in an array of artist studios. Some artists sell their work and others are more focused on creating a one-of-a-kind immersive environment for guests. For example, artist and photographer Kat Wilson has collaborated with Artist Brian Bailey to create and host a #SelfieThrone—an LED and neon-illuminated chair for guests to try on for size to create self-portraits.

Trisha Guting’s studio showcases her upcycled art and wearables created by using sustainable, post-consumer, re-purposed and found materials. Designer Dillon Dooms fills his space with compelling sound and glitch video experiences, and large-scale format artist Tigersasha, who primarily uses spray paint in the style of street art, is launching a new clothing line.

All artists maintain their own studio hours, but most welcome drop-ins when they are present. In addition to Fayetteville First Thursdays, occasional special events and festivals also take place within the Village, organized by individual artists and by local organizations. Stop by to enjoy the unique vibe at 546 W. Center Street.
