They say you should “pick your battles” and we believe this may just be THE one to choose! There’s about to be a bit of a throw down up on Fayetteville’s highest point, but everyone in attendance will unquestionably leave as a victor.
On Saturday, July 20, The Mount Sequoyah Center will host the Battle of the Sommeliers, a friendly competition of wine pairing prowess. Going head to head (or glass to glass?) will be Erin Von Feldt, the beverage director for Bordinos who is responsible for garnering the fine dining restaurant an annual Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator every year since 2006, against Patrick Murphy of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, an international distributor of fine alcoholic beverages.
The wine experts’ battleground will be a truly spectacular meal, created in partnership by two regionally well-known chefs. Justus Moll, creator of Mount Sequoyah Center’s new culinary program and Case Dighero, director of culinary programs and events for Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will present a five-course dining experience. Different wines will be painstakingly paired with the evening’s courses to give guests the ultimate challenge of determining their favorites and selecting the winning sommelier.
