THE RAMBLE

The Ramble is a linear park which will soon span from Dickson Street on the north to MLK and the South Yard development on the south. While the Upper Ramble, a large plaza at Dickson and West, is currently under construction, the Lower Ramble, a 9-acre park, is open and flourishing. Discover a beautifully restored creek and accessible winding paths with live arts experiences every Friday night from April to October.

FAYETTEVILLE TRAVERSE

It’s common knowledge that Fayetteville has an expansive trail system, with more than 50 miles of paved trails and more than 50 miles of soft-surface trails and counting.  The Fayetteville Traverse is an 18-mile soft-surface loop linking Fayetteville’s lively downtown and entertainment districts to the University of Arkansas, Kessler Mountain Regional Park, Centennial Park, and Markham Hill with a continuous singletrack loop for mountain bikers, hikers, and trail runners. The Fayetteville Traverse blends technical hand-cut singletrack, mountain bike optimized flow trails, multiuse paved paths, and a few bicycle-friendly streets to create Fayetteville’s premiere mountain bike experience. BOTANICAL GARDEN OF THE OZARKS

The Garden has been a fixture in Fayetteville since 2007, with 12 beautiful, themed gardens and Arkansas’ only butterfly house situated around the expansive Great Lawn. The Garden offers a full calendar of events like the midsummer Firefly Festival and the late winter Orchid Show. Though events and classes are top-notch, the garden is gorgeous to visit every day of the year. And don’t skip the gift shop, full of goodies for nature-lovers. Terrific Tuesday nights, presented from June through the end of August, are a great chance to explore the Garden and enjoy free programming in the cooler evening temperatures.

MOUNT SEQUOYAH

Follow Assembly Drive through a tunnel of trees to the highest point in Fayetteville. The Mount Sequoyah Center was once a church retreat, and it maintains the serenity of a place set apart. Most known for its scenic overlook and historic cross, idyllic Mount Sequoyah has more than 40 buildings ranging from artists’ studios to a gym and coffeeshop to lodges and cabins available for nightly rental. Mount Sequoyah is home to an art gallery, Fenix Gallery, and they present festivals, performances, and concerts throughout the year.

ARKANSAS AIR AND MILITARY MUSEUM

Located at Drake Field on the southern edge of Fayetteville, the Arkansas Air & Military Museum gives visitors the chance to step inside a C-130 and to walk among dozens of aircraft and military buildings within a beautiful wooden hangar built in 1944. Static displays at the museum range from the golden age of aviation to the jet age, including Vietnam-era Army helicopters and a Navy fighter. The museum offers special events from car shows to roller-skating pop-ups to the annual Santa Drop, where the guest of honor arrives by parachute.

LAKE FAYETTEVILLE

Located on our city’s north side, Lake Fayetteville is a well-loved destination. The 5.5-mile paved Lake Fayetteville Loop is one of the most heavily used paved trails in the city, and there’s a 6.9-mile soft surface loop featuring bridges and boardwalks and a secluded wildlife blind for birdwatching. A natural science study center hosted by Ozark Natural Science Center presents educational programs, and an outfitter provides refreshments and boat and bike rentals.
