7 Miles - Mild
Starting from the Experience Fayetteville Visitors Center on the Downtown Square, experience a sample of Fayetteville’s extensive paved trail network with our Chasing Squirrels route. This 7-mile, lollipop-shaped route connects sections of the Razorback Regional Greenway with the Tsa-La-Gi and Town Branch Trails – and what is known as Fayetteville’s “South Loop”.
Kid friendly, the South Loop is identified by circular orange wayfinding markers featuring a common little critter - squirrels! Like breadcrumbs, the Squirrel markers can be found all along the trail and “chasing” them from one to the next is fun for the whole family. While Fayetteville is well known for its hills, this paved trail experience is mostly flat and makes for an excellent option for all ages, ability levels and mobility options.
From the Razorback Regional Greenway, the route heads west along the Tsa La Gi Trail, paralleling Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and an assortment of chain and locally owned restaurants, coffee shops, and cafes. Mountain bikers can choose to session the Tsa La Gi Bike Park – a 10-acre skills-building park for both beginner- and intermediate-level mountain bikers. Built to ride and repeat, the park features a variety of trails designed to help riders progress their skills before exploring the additional 50-miles of mountain bike trails in town!
The Tsa La Gi Trail eventually meets with the Town Branch Trail, which meanders south and east before reconnecting back with the Razorback Regional Greenway at Greathouse Park. This section of the route features abundant tree canopy and water-filled creeks running alongside the trails – helping keep things cool even on warmer summer days. From Greathouse Park, the route heads back north through Fayetteville’s Walker Park before finishing back in Fayetteville’s Downtown.
Families will find our “Chasing Squirrels” route to be beginner-friendly, with public amenities along the route including drinking fountains, benches, and restrooms at Walker Park. After the ride, Downtown Fayetteville offers plenty of locally owned establishments like the Little Bread Company – a hopping little community bakery
