In addition, the Randal Tyson Track Center, already considered one of the best of its kind in the world, will see $5 million dedicated to phased improvements. The track surface will be replaced, new graphics installed and audio-visual upgrades made. Enhancements are targeted for completion in advance of the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held on the University of Arkansas campus.
A new $27 million baseball development center will provide roughly 45,000 square feet of player and pitching development spaces and in-venue batting cages, expanded and improved locker room, team room, weight room, training room, nutrition space and meeting rooms. The facility will be built on the right field corner of Baum-Walker Stadium and will connect with the current west concourse. An added benefit for fans, the new construction will provide a premium viewing area overlooking the field.
The baseball development center is the latest of several updates and additions to Baum-Walker Stadium, and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2021. Originally opened in 1996, the stadium was ranked in 2018 as the top collegiate ballpark in the nation by Baseball America.
No university funds, state funds or student fees will be used for these projects. Visit the Arkansas Razorbacks' website to learn more.
