We can practically hear those jingling sleigh bells, just thinking about all of the wonderful holiday performing arts programming that’s coming to Fayetteville this December, thanks to the Walton Arts Center. Every year crowds of families and friends plan much-anticipated trips to the WAC’s state of the art venue to make a variety of outstanding productions part of their celebrations of the special season. The 2019 line up of live performance and family movie screenings is designed to please all ages.
If you’ve not yet been to a performance at the beautiful, world-class Jim & Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center in the fully renovated and converted 1930s University of Arkansas Field House (or even if you have), you may well be enticed by a spectacular artist coming to Fayetteville, Arkansas for a series of fantastic events.
One hallmark of a vibrant arts community is the presence of a thriving symphony orchestra—and Fayetteville, Arkansas has been home to the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas for 65 outstanding seasons of concert performance. Founded in 1954, SoNA is a resident company of the Walton Arts Center and presents classical and pops performances to tens of thousands of audience members each year. The symphony is under the baton of conductor and SoNA music director Paul Haas, also an accomplished composer and graduate of Yale University and The Julliard School.
TheatreSquared is anxious to introduce live performance lovers to its 50,000 square-foot architecturally stunning new home in August 2019—but first they’ve got one last bedazzled treat to share from the company’s intimate long-time stage home at Nadine Baum Studios.
Running May 1 through June 2, TheatreSquared brings us “The Legend of Georgia McBride,” a laugh-out-loud comedy which enjoyed extended off-Broadway success. Elvis impersonator Casey is young, relentlessly optimistic, broke and about to be a new father. When the struggling Florida Panhandle bar where he performs attempts to refresh its appeal by hiring a drag show to bring in customers, Casey moves on from his Elvis jumpsuit to embrace a new form of flashy entertainment as the glitzy “Georgia McBride,” proving to be an unexpected sensation.
Celebrate the 2018 holiday season with the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas. Returning to the stage at the Walton Arts Center, SoNA presents two holiday performances that are sure to delight all ages and have become classic traditions in Fayetteville.
