This Thanksgiving Day, before you gather to feast, gather to move your feet! There’s a new race in town, perfect for starting a new family tradition.

The Inaugural Turkey Trot-n-Trek is a family friendly event with a little something for everyone. Three categories of races are scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 25, 2021, beginning at 8:30 am. Runners will meet at Lake Fayetteville's North Shore Disc Golf course, where they can choose either a 5k "trot" (paved trail race), 5k "trek" (nature trail race), or a kid-friendly 1k “Little Gobbler” (utilizing both paved and nature trails). The entire event is - you guessed it! - Thanksgiving themed, so bring your best seasonal attire! All participants will receive some fun finisher prizes, and there will also be awards presented for each age group.

For those familiar with the race scene in Fayetteville, this event is the newest from the organizers of some other favorite local events: the Hero Half Marathon, Nutty Runner 5K, and Cow Paddy Run. The Spark Foundation, supported by these events, is a local nonprofit that supports health and fitness education in Fayetteville schools and provides the funding for the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation. In other words -- they know what they’re doing!

Cost to register is $35 for either of the 5K races, or $15 for the kids 1K event.

Register here for any of the three races! You can also learn more about the Spark Foundation and their mission to make fitness fun by visiting their website
