Typically held in the Fall and Winter months, International cyclocross racing comes to Fayetteville, Arkansas October 5-6, 2019 for FayetteCross! It’s a full weekend of unconventional bicycle racing at Centennial Park at Millsap Mountain - the future home of the 2022 UCI Cyclocross World Championships!
Fayetteville is known as much for its natural beauty and cool college town vibe as it is for its warmth and hospitality. The convergence of those characteristics, as well as an outstanding network of spectacular mountain biking trails, has attracted the exciting launch of Grit MTB Festival—a grass-roots event for women (cis and trans) and non-binary riders. Set for November 15-17, 2019, the festival is based in Kessler Mountain Regional Park and includes a packed weekend of camping, meals, group rides, clinics and workshops. In addition, an optional race is scheduled, as well as a film screening, keynote speaker, yoga and a used-gear swap.
Whether you’re making your first trip to Fayetteville or you’re a lifelong native of the area, there is no better way to get a true picture of the vibrant and beautiful community than to carve out a few hours to take in the local trail system. The southernmost section of the Razorback Greenway, a 37.6 mile shared-use trail that traverses some of the prettiest countryside in Northwest Arkansas, runs through the heart of Fayetteville and alongside an array of unique stops that will turn a 10-mile local ride into a fantastic all-day adventure.
Originally launched in September of 2018, VeoRide, Fayetteville’s bike share program, offers a unique opportunity to experience the culture, shopping, dining and outdoors in the Fayetteville area.
With VeoRide, a dockless bike sharing system, users can locate, reserve and unlock available bikes at designated areas throughout downtown and the University of Arkansas campus. Featuring both traditional pedal and electronically assisted bicycles (e-bikes), thousands of students, visitors and locals have utilized the bike share program to take 72,000 rides in the program's first year.
The only thing better than leisurely traversing thirty miles of the beautiful Razorback Greenway on a bicycle is making the journey with three party-worthy pit stops along the way! Northwest Arkansas communities along the trail will again play host to the Square 2 Square ride, a wildly popular biannual event that brings out thousands of riders of all ages and experience levels to Fayetteville each fall and spring.
