Firefly Fling, one of Fayetteville's most anticipated summer outings, returns to the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks on Saturday, July 20 from 6-10pm.
It’s next to impossible to picture Fayetteville, Arkansas without calling to mind the city’s much-storied, always vibrant Dickson Street. To honor these few illustrious blocks running through downtown—and the special place they hold in the hearts of generations of locals, college students, alumni and visitors—the team at the Clinton House Museum is throwing a special Dickson-themed party.
We stand firm on the opinion that there aren’t many of life’s true pleasures better than feeling a little sun on your face, cooled by a gentle breeze—while enjoying a tasty beverage and delicious food. Largely due to the many months of great weather and a plethora of excellent restaurants and pubs in Fayetteville, Arkansas, it should come as no surprise that there’s a lengthy list of patio options to choose from for your next relaxation stop.
Dog lovers and owners will have a wonderful time with their furry companions at the free Second Annual Bark Bash, organized by the team at leisurlist. Taking place at the Fayetteville Town Center on July 13 from 4 to 8 p.m., Bark Bash is designed to conveniently connect pet owners with a range of local vendors. Attendees and their pups can shop for all sorts of products and services, visit with local rescue and adoption agencies, all while hanging out and socializing with other dogs and their humans.
Nothing says sweet, sweet summertime in Fayetteville, Arkansas like the Gulley Park Summer Concert Series. Gathering a perfect cross-section of the community in one of the city’s most-loved parks, the multi-show lineup provides free live music representing a range of genres. Keeping the fun going until the sun goes down, all concerts are held on Thursday evenings at the Gulley Park gazebo, and feature a food truck rally to help satisfy hungry bellies.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lounge chairs or picnic blankets to add to the patchwork of comfortable spots to enjoy the tunes. Well-behaved, leashed furry friends are welcome, too.
We might be a little biased, but we do believe it would be extraordinarily difficult to find a more stunningly beautiful bike trail than the one located in the Kessler Mountain Regional Park. Considered one of the premier natural areas in Northwest Arkansas, the park incorporates an impressive section of Ozark forest that has been established as a nature preserve to protect the mountain’s diverse wildlife and plants.
JBGB, a literal playground for adults that happens to serve house-brewed frosty beverages and all manner of tasty bar food, is also fully committed to bringing the people to the party all summer long with an outstanding free concert series. VIP tickets for each show are available for purchase; visit the JBGB website for information about times and pricing at thejbgb.com/fsc.
If you’re wondering where to find the prettiest spots in town, one location that easily lands near or at the very top of anyone’s list is the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks. There are countless reasons to make frequent visits to this Fayetteville gem, with its twelve themed gardens and the region’s only butterfly house—but you might not realize one of the best excuses to come to the BGO is for the fun and FREE Terrific Tuesday Nights that take place throughout the summer season.
Open to the public at no charge on Tuesday evenings during the months of June through August, the garden staff welcomes the community to family-friendly programming to celebrate beautiful summer nights. The gate is open from 5 to 8 p.m., and evenings featuring concerts wrap up at or before 9 p.m.

PIE. A simple, unassuming little word—yet the very mention of it conjures up such happy emotion! Meringue, cream, fruit, chocolate, crisp, nut, silk, caramel and even savory…do you lean toward a perfect flaky crust, perhaps the classic graham cracker or, dare we say it, fried into a heavenly, crunchy packet of goodness? We could argue for days about which is the best, but that would be precious time lost when considering how many glorious pie options exist for the tasting in Fayetteville. Here are a few for you to conquer:
