Set for Sunday, October 25, 2020, the day’s events are organized by The Spark Foundation in partnership with the Fayetteville Firefighter’s Association, and participants of all ages, paces and abilities can choose to run the half marathon, 5k or a one-mile course. New this year, participants can also choose to run a quarter marathon (6.55 miles) and a two-person relay where you can run the quarter marathon with your partner.
While the majority of runners will be hitting the pavement in typical lightweight athletic attire, a dedicated few hardcore active-duty firefighters will take the Firefighter Challenge and run the race in full bunker gear. That's 40-60 lbs. of additional weight including air pack and helmet!
On race day the start line will be set up starting at 6 a.m. at Lokomotion at Lake Fayetteville and the finish line set up at the Walton Arts Center parking lot on Dickson Street until 6 p.m. You will sign up for a time slot and come run the race at your own pace! The number of and duration between time slots will differ depending upon how many people sign up.
It's a beautiful time of year to visit Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the Hero Half Marathon event is a great way to get outside in the Ozarks on a fall day and support local.
