The race takes place on the morning of Saturday, March 14 and routes runners through the historic downtown district and into some Fayetteville’s most scenic neighborhoods. The course, like the city itself, is definitely hilly—but Nutty Runner organizers have a mantra of “mind over hangover” that helps carry everyone through to the end. Participants represent all ages, paces and abilities.
Two divisions are available and online advance registration is required:
- Nutty Runner – includes four delicious beers and is only available to athletes aged 21+
- Designated Driver – open to any age and allows runners to skip the beer during the race; those who are of legal age may purchase libations during post-race festivities
For information about packet pickup, route, perks, merchandise and awards, visit the race site.
The Nutty Runner 5K is about more than just having a great time a few days before St. Patrick’s Day. All proceeds support The Spark Foundation, a nonprofit that hosts racing events, as well as provides mini-grants and outreach programming to promote health and fitness education while encouraging outdoor recreation.
