Nutty Runner 5K 2020

UPDATE regarding COVID-19: In alignment with state officials, local organizations and compassion for the community at large, organizers have made the decision to postpone the 2020 Nutty Runner 5k until a more suitable date can be found and the safety of all can be ensured.

The organizers of this quintessential Fayetteville, Arkansas event aren’t kidding around about embracing the toast of “To your health!” Combining the pleasure of great craft beer consumption with the solid benefits of outdoor exercise, the Nutty Runner 5K features a tasty pint of Columbus House Brewery’s popular Nutty Runner Nut Brown Ale at every mile marker and at the finish.

The race takes place on the morning of Saturday, March 14 and routes runners through the historic downtown district and into some Fayetteville’s most scenic neighborhoods. The course, like the city itself, is definitely hilly—but Nutty Runner organizers have a mantra of “mind over hangover” that helps carry everyone through to the end. Participants represent all ages, paces and abilities.

Two divisions are available and online advance registration is required:

  • Nutty Runner – includes four delicious beers and is only available to athletes aged 21+
  • Designated Driver – open to any age and allows runners to skip the beer during the race; those who are of legal age may purchase libations during post-race festivities

For information about packet pickup, route, perks, merchandise and awards, visit the race site.

The Nutty Runner 5K is about more than just having a great time a few days before St. Patrick’s Day. All proceeds support The Spark Foundation, a nonprofit that hosts racing events, as well as provides mini-grants and outreach programming to promote health and fitness education while encouraging outdoor recreation.

For participating visitors to the region looking for for local expert suggestions, find great information about lodging, dining, bar scene, the arts, shopping and more. And because we know you probably love beer, having read this far, we cordially invite you to check out the Fayetteville Ale Trail, Arkansas’s original craft brew tour of 15 amazing local establishments.
