The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Management Committee has announced that Fayetteville, Arkansas has been selected to host a cyclo-cross World Cup event on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, as part of the 2021-2022 cyclo-cross World Cup schedule.
The third annual FayetteCross, and first time World Cup event, will be held at the 228-acre Centennial Park, also home to the 2022 Walmart UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. As a World Cup, FayetteCross will offer a preview of the championship racecourse and an opportunity for spectators to see the world’s best cyclo-cross racers from more than 25 countries compete this fall - before returning to Fayetteville next January for the World Championships!
If a stranger to the sport of cyclo-cross, the spectator-friendly format consists of an obstacle-loaded course designed for its lively fans to be right in the middle of what is cycling’s most thrilling form of racing.
FayetteCross was last held in October 2019 when two uniquely different days of cyclo-cross racing brought athletes from 31 states and 3 Canadian providences to Fayetteville. Course conditions changed significantly from Saturday into Sunday, as 6 inches of overnight rains created a memorable day of muddy cyclo-cross competition. Held rain or shine, any chance for weather only adds to the unpredictability of the contest!
Be sure to save the date and play hooky so you can catch all the action on October 13! We’ll see you at Centennial Park when the wild world of international cyclo-cross and World Cup racing comes to Fayetteville!
