Artist Trading Cards Workshop

05/03/2025 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

artist trading cards

Artist Trading Cards are one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork, the size of baseball cards, that get made and then traded with other artists. Trading cards are never sold. This workshop will be a fun introduction to working with mixed media and various ways to design and embellish your cards. The only official rules for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5" and that the cards are traded and never sold. At the end of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to trade any or all the cards you made.

How it all began....
In 1997, M. Vanci Stirnemann, a Swiss artist, created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. The movement took off, and today, there are ATC swaps in almost every major city around the world. There are also many online swaps.

No art experience necessary. Project details will be emailed upon registration. This workshop has limited enrollment so early enrollment is recommended. (Ages 16 & up)

Community Roll Out & Camp Out

All day

Community event open to anyone and everyone!

50 Miles split into two days with about half unpaved vs paved surfaces. Options to add on singletrack miles at Lake Wedington and Twin Knobs!

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: This will be dispersed camping.

Dispersed camping - also known as free camping or boondocking, is a form of camping on public lands where you camp outside of designated campgrounds and without the amenities or services of a developed campground. It's essentially camping "wild" with no facilities like toilets, trash cans, or fire rings.

Need to know more about how to camp this way? Contact us in advance and we can share resources from Bikepacking Roots. We’ll also have some friendly experienced bikepackers around ready to lend a hand!

OGC is providing a few amenities to make dispersed camping life a little easier! Read below for more details and itinerary.

Day 1: 20 miles of pavement & gravel to dispersed camping near the Twin Knobs at Lake Wedington.

Tag on extra miles of singletrack in the area if you so please!

We’ll have a “Sunset Social Hour” on Lower Round Top with great views of the surrounding area. BYOB or goodies of choice.

An OGC tent at camp area includes:

Lots of extra water for everyone to refill and use for cooking

A trash container

A community 2-burner stove (bring your own pots/cookware/mug)

Complimentary Ruby Coffee and Long Drink

Day 2: 30 miles of pavement & gravel back to Smokehouse Cycles

10am community roll-out

Hit more singletrack in the morning if desired or free to leave earlier!

Summer, 1938. Ilona, a concert pianist known for her sharp wit as much as her musical passion, refuses to be ruled by fear, even as fellow Jewish artists and academics flee Hungary. Surely Budapest is safe from the growing Nazi fervor - isn't it? Filled with intrigue, music, and wry humor, this world premiere is a taut emotional thriller, as a woman caught in one of history's darkest moments fights to find a way forward.

Exposed: A Ballet on the Trails

05/03/2025 7:30 pm

A World Premier by the NWA Ballet Theatre, this production will feature an original dance, and score as expressed through the images of local photographer Brent Umphlett and Emmy-winning composer Lendell Black.

This is a production that shouldn’t be missed. Umphlett describes Exposed as a journey, on which he “first had to leave comfort and safety, Expose any doubts and Expose himself to his own ardent passion. In essence, he Exposed himself to nature, to the elements to be unprotected. Subsequently, he Exposed himself to adventure and beauty. Nothing risked, nothing gained.”

Additionally, Umphlett said the production lives up to its name because “the camera Exposed these adventurous scenes in its memory, romantically thinking, the film was Exposed to this beauty, and all the associated stories and emotions were visually documented.”

And finally, the production name also stands for how “the audience will be Exposed to a creative and meaningful collaboration that will move and inspire them. Generally, life is richer when we Expose ourselves to new experiences, situations, and relationships; this is where curiosity is cultivated, and peace is rooted.”
