NWA Film Club is screening the awesomely bizarre cinematic monument to taekwondo & friendship... MIAMI CONNECTION (1987)!
Before the movie, visual artist Jumper will set the mood with analogue video manipulations and synths tunes.
After the movie, there will be a Q&A with a special guest who worked on the film!
When taekwondo Grandmaster Y.K. Kim set out to make a movie, he knew nothing about the process. He hadn't even seen many movies. He borrowed from friends, took out loans, spent all of his savings, and mortgaged his taekwondo school to finance the film — only to have it rejected by hundreds of distributors.
Finally after getting a release, the reception was abysmal. But 25 years later, the Alamo Drafthouse re-released MIAMI CONNECTION, breathing new life into the film along with a loving new fan base! It's now considered a cult classic, and frankly — a ton of a fun time to watch with friends.
