Happy 10th to us!  It's time to celebrate!

The Headquarters House Museum will hold a holiday open house from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, offering a glimpse of 19th-century Christmas traditions in Northwest Arkansas.

The museum, located at 118 E. Dickson St., serves as the headquarters for the Washington County Historical Society. Built in 1853, the house was originally the residence of Judge Jonas and Matilda Tebbetts.

Activities during the event will include caroling by singers in period costumes, 19th-century social dancing, and tintype photos with Father Christmas on the porch of the adjacent Archibald Yell Law Office. Caroling is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., with social dancing at 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Inside the museum, visitors can sample hot wassail, cookies, and desserts, including gingerbread and a cheese ball made from a Tebbetts family recipe. Guests can also make craft ornaments and take self-guided tours of the decorated home, with volunteers available to answer questions.

The museum’s bookstore will be open, offering gifts for history enthusiasts with complimentary gift wrapping. The historical society will also collect unwrapped gifts for local children in need.
