Two world-class musicians will bring their cross-country concert tour American Portraits to Fayetteville this month for a free public performance.

Pianist Jonathan Levin and tenor Tyrone Chambers will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 224 N. East Ave.

The concert blends classical music, jazz, traditional folk songs, spirituals, and original compositions to explore themes of unity, resilience, and national pride, according to a news release. It’s part of a broader tour aimed at connecting with audiences in both traditional and non-traditional venues across the country — including churches, community centers and underserved areas.

The duo’s 2025 tour, which spans from North Carolina to California, is also being filmed as part of a planned documentary series showcasing the American cultural and physical landscape through music and storytelling.

Levin, a North Carolina native, debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2016 and has received national honors for piano performance. Chambers, from New Orleans, is a founding tenor of Opera Creole and has performed opera and oratorio roles internationally.
