Education
The Fayetteville School District provides a kindergarten through 12th grade education, along with adult and community education programs. The district is comprised of 15 schools with an enrollment of more than 8,100. But numbers don’t tell the whole story.
Fayetteville Public Schools are some of the state’s (and the nation’s) best. We consistently rank among the upper echelon of school districts in the annual “Education Quotient” issue of Expansion Management magazine. In this publication, school districts nationwide are rated in terms of both the “graduate outcome” and “resource index” measurements. The Fayetteville School System traditionally takes high honors in this assessment. School systems that receive the “Gold Medal” award typically excel in areas of high academic standards, small class size and high spending per pupil on instruction.

Economy
Fayetteville continues to be recognized by national business magazines and quality of life publications for its extremely healthy economy. The region is bustling, with three of Arkansas’ top five employers—Wal-Mart, Tyson Foods and J. B. Hunt—headquartered less than a half-hour drive from Fayetteville. More than 300 Fortune 500 companies can be found here, and Northwest Arkansas continues to be a destination for international businesses. The result of this economic picture is business success and top-notch living conditions for the town’s current estimated population of 68,331.
The city’s efforts receive strong support from Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. The CBER provides economic and demographic data and analysis to businesses, government and individuals.
