Doing Donuts - 28 Miles - Moderate

Beginning from the Goshen Community Building just east of Fayetteville, our ‘Doing Donuts’ route explores the gravel roads along the county lines of Washington and Madison Counties in a unique stacked loop design – rated Moderate in difficulty.

Featuring 80% rural gravel roads, the pavement gives way to dirt within the first mile as the landscape becomes dotted with family ranches and poultry farms – a main occupation in rural areas of Northwest Arkansas. A couple miles into the ride comes the initial climb, a 1.7 mile gravel grind up Richland View Road.

Following a short section of pavement along State Highway 295 leads to a 3.5 mile gravel descent to Cave Creek. The route continues in a loop, following lesser traveled county roads that undulate up and down – a common characteristic of the Ozarks. Around mile 17 the route heads east along a ridgeline of gravel towards the top of Boyd Mountain. The mountain’s descent is highlighted by canopy covered gravel roads lined with rock formations and a few rideable water crossings.

The last climb of the day is a 1.8 mile pedal to the top of Benson Mountain, followed by a paved downhill finish back to the Community Building. With limited services, gravel cyclists should plan to self-support with the necessary hydration and nutrition they need to complete our ‘Doing Donuts’ route.

Where to Park

The Goshen Community Building is located at 244 Clarke Street and is a popular starting point for several cycling clubs in the region. Please be respectful of the property by parking in the gravel lot.
