3 Things to Do within Walking Distance of Campus

If you are staying on campus for the Walmart Shareholder’s meeting, you can experience Fayetteville the walkable way. The lovely University of Arkansas campus is just a few strollable minutes away from Fayetteville’s fabled entertainment district, Dickson Street, and the scenic Downtown Fayetteville Square.

Here's three things we recommend doing while you're here, all within walking distance of campus:

1. Have a drink

On the edge of campus, at the corner of Arkansas Avenue and Maple Street, find a quiet place for a great cocktail at the Lambeth Lounge near historic Old Main. Lambeth Lounge has comfortable leather sofas, a big screen television for sports and a great bar, featuring signature drinks, wine, a collection of scotch and beer and a tasty bar menu. The bar is housed inside the historic Inn at Carnall Hall, an elegant inn built in 1906 as the first women’s dormitory at the university.

2. Eat some local grub

If you are looking for a bite to eat, venture just half a block from campus to the Blackboard Grocery on Dickson Street. Blackboard Grocery features coffee, a bakery, grab & go and grocery items and has mouthwatering breakfast tacos. They also offer pizza by the slice, tea, beer and sodas, using creative and delicious shrubs, syrups and bitters produced by Northwest Arkansas’s own Pink House Alchemy.

3. Do your laundry

Talk a walk on Leverett Avenue, just north of campus, to discover Fayetteville's newest and (and only) laundromat and restaurant combo, Sit & Spin. The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and has free wifi and USB ports, as well as coffee and delicious donuts. They also offer more substantial fare, such as sliders, salads, fabulous house made pickles, fries, local craft beer and wine. The Boss Burger is already a local favorite – grilled with onions, provolone, bacon and a raspberry peach sauce. The laundromat side is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and provides free eco-friendly laundry detergent and softener.

Fayetteville was recently recognized as a Walk Friendly Community, so experiencing the city on foot is not only fun but completely safe, too. It's easy to see why Fayetteville's locals enjoy living in this gorgeous town.
