Bit Brigade at Arkansas Retrocade

Video game enthusiasts and music fans, mark your calendars! On Oct. 16, Arkadia Retrocade in Fayetteville will host Bit Brigade for a one-of-a-kind event that brings together two worlds: video games and live music.

Bit Brigade, a popular video game cover band from Athens, Georgia, will perform the Mega Man II soundtrack. The band’s basic premise is to cover old-school video game tunes in real time as someone speed-runs the games on a projector displayed behind the band.

Other game soundtracks Bit Brigade has performed include Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Zelda and Metroid.

Arkansas Retrocade, located at 1478 N. College Ave., allows you to relive the arcade days on games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. Even kids used to fancy PlayStation setups enjoy the timeless strategies of games like Tetris and Asteroids. Owner Shea Mathis finds and collects vintage, out-of service machines, fixes them up and installs them in his Retrocade.

Tickets for the event are $5 at the door. All self-proclaimed gamers — whether you’re hardcore, casual or a newbie — better be there! To learn more about the band, visit
