Highway 71 Pastry Tour

Whoa. They had us at baked goods and beer—but the 2019 Highway 71 Pastry Tour organizers have planned absolutely gorgeous bike tour routes to accommodate riders ranging from beginners to hard core, making this is one road ride not to miss.

Starting from Fayetteville’s Walker Park at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, riders get to carb up with a bread bar and spreads, as well as enjoy a caffeine fix before heading out for a 20-mile, 32-mile or 71-mile ride on scenic Highway 71. The routes all include a stop along the White River near West Fork, and for those opting for the longer treks, additional stops are set along the river at Brentwood, then onward (and upward) to epic Boston Mountain views at stunning Mt. Gaylor.

Each fully-stocked rest stop will feature delicious locally made pastries, PB&Js and fruit to keep sugar highs at peak performance, and SAG vehicles will be available for anyone who needs assistance. And, not only will riders receive finishing awards, but the finish line is actually a fun recovery party complete with a beer garden, music, food truck, boot station and bike wash station, giveaways and more.

Participants may register online or on site from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Breakaway Cycling Team, an education and advocacy focused nonprofit organization with a mission to eliminate barriers and inspire more young people and women to get on bikes.
