Halloween Monster Dash

Those looking for a fun, new way to Trick or Treat this year are in luck, because on Oct. 29 Fayetteville is hosting the Halloween Monster Dash 5K / Fun Run.

Participants and those in attendance are encouraged to wear costumes for the event, which is appropriate for all ages and will feature candy stops along the course. The run will also include a kid’s expo with bouncy houses and other inflatables, a carnival and more fun Halloween-themed activities.

The course will run throughout the Downtown and Dickson Street Entertainment District and along the Razorback Greenway, with the start/finish line at the intersection of Church and Center streets.

Pre-registratered packet pick-up and onsite registration begins at 1 p.m. The 5K begins at 2:30 p.m., and Fun Run/Walk begins at 2:35.

A costume contest with awards will be held at 3:15 p.m. Judges will be looking for the most creative, scariest and wildest costumes. Prizes will include gift certificates to area restaurants and other businesses. The two categories are “Scariest, Most Creative and Wildest” and “Owner/Pet - Most Creative.”

The Halloween Monster Dash will be held rain or shine! It is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event, and leashed pets are encouraged to participate, too. Strollers are also allowed, but asked to begin in the back of the group.
