The spring edition of the biannual Square 2 Square Bike Ride is taking off up the Razorback Regional Greenway from just off the Fayetteville Downtown Square on Saturday, May 6th, 2023!

The Square 2 Square Bike Ride turns eight this year! This increasingly popular collaborative event between the Fayetteville Parks Department and Bentonville Parks and Recreation takes place each Spring and Fall, with the spring event beginning in Fayetteville and the fall event beginning in Bentonville. The Square 2 Square Bike Ride - as its name implies - is not a race, but an easygoing event that’s designed for all ages and abilities. The intention of the S2S Ride, the “Official Ride of the Razorback Greenway”, is to provide an event for folks that are new to riding bikes while promoting safe riding and showcasing the Razorback Greenway.

Departing via the Razorback Greenway from Walker Park in Fayetteville and finishing at Lawrence Plaza in Bentonville, the in-person ride will roll along the Razorback Greenway for 30 miles. For riders, it’s a fun opportunity to get outside while celebrating Northwest Arkansas’ downtown squares and enjoying the unique cycling amenities of the area that make Fayetteville such a fantastic place to live, work, visit, and play! This year, Parks & Rec officials have made it even easier to participate by providing both pre and post-ride shuttles for riders and their bikes. Be sure to stop by the Experience Fayetteville Visitors Center to snap a photo with the "I Started in Fayetteville" wall sticker before you go!

Just as in 2022, a virtual ride option for 2023 is being offered during the month of May, National Bike Month, in addition to the in-person event on May 6th. The virtual ride will take place May 1st-31st, when the weather is at its best for cycling the Razorback Greenway! Beyond the standard 30 mile northbound course along the Razorback Greenway, the virtual ride will additionally feature a 15 mile option. Riders are welcome to start at any point along the trail if not able to ride the entire 30 miles.

Participants must register in advance and will receive a goody bag complete with a synthetic T-shirt and finisher medal. Adults (ages 14+) can register for $35; youth (13 and under) can register for $20. A family of 3-5 household members can register for $85. During the spring registration period, fall ride registration also is available! The fall Square 2 Square Bike Ride will take place October 7th, with a virtual ride option offered during the month of October.

Registration for both spring and fall rides are available now! For more information on the Square 2 Square Bike Ride, please visit the event webpage, www.GoPlayFay.com/square2square, or find the event on Facebook. Registration can be found online at www.regwiz.io.
