Get ready for a one of a kind cycling experience you don’t want to miss! Fayetteville’s new cyclo-cross event, CycloFrost, will take place on Saturday, December 9 at Lake Fayetteville’s North Shore.
Cyclo-cross is a specific type of bike racing in which participants can expect to encounter grass, dirt, mud, gravel, sand and more along the course. Riders may also have to frequently dismount their bike and carry it while navigating an obstruction. Each race has a set amount of time, rather than distance, and is measured by the number of laps completed.
CycloFrost will feature 11 races, with the first three starting at 10:00 a.m. The event will be sanctioned with USA Cycling, and participants may take part in multiple races, though points will only be scored or one.
The top 4 places in the Men’s Open and Women’s Open will receive payouts in the amounts of $100, $70, $50, and $30. Top finishers in the remaining categories will receive Wicked Cool Swag.
CycloFrost is the newest addition to the Fayetteville Race Series, a program launched in 2015 by the Fayetteville Parks & Recreation department in an effort to enhance the active culture of Northwest Arkansas. Other events in the series include Square 2 Square Bike Ride, Ladies DU Fayetteville and the Frozen Toes 15k.
Online registration is available now. For information on becoming a volunteer or sponsor for CycloFrost, visit the City of Fayetteville website.
